Ofsted Report - April 2018
Dear Parents and Carers
Here is the final Ofsted Report letter for Longlands Primary School and Nursery. We are delighted with our result which states: Longlands ‘continues to be good’ and that the school has ‘demonstrated strong practice and marked improvement in certain areas’ which ‘may indicate that the school is improving towards being outstanding.’
To put this in context, in January 2018 the Ofsted Inspection framework changed for schools that had previously been judged in the last Ofsted Inspection as good. The School Inspections, a guide to parents states the following “If there is sufficient evidence of strong practice and improved performance of a good school, and it is reasonable to believe that the school may be judged outstanding if it received a full two-day inspection, the school will receive a report, in the form of a letter, setting out its strengths and areas of marked improvement and informing the school that its next inspection will be a full two-day inspection, to take place within one to two years”. Therefore, this is the best result we could have hoped for.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff, pupils and parents at Longlands for their dedication and hard work which has gone towards making Longlands the success it is today. The Ofsted Inspector has set out many of strengths and areas of marked improvement, for the school, with only two action points, both are areas that we had already started work on. As a staff we are excited to continue to work on these areas and achieve our aspiration of being an outstanding school, in the words of our motto ‘Onwards and Upwards.’
